Nos thermomètres contre la légionellose

What is Legionnaires' disease?

Legionnaires' disease is a infection pulmonary serious caused by bacterium named Legionella. It is not a disease that is contagious from one person to another. Legionnaires' disease mainly affects adults and particularly affects people presenting factors favoring.

There are more than 50 species strains of legionella, but only a few of them cause d’infections human. The strains most commonly associated with Legionnaires' disease in France are Legionella pneumophila.

Bactérie Légionellose

How do you get Legionnaires' disease?

THE legionella are present naturally in waters sweet (lakes and rivers) and soils wet. From the natural environment, the bacteria can colonize the facilities which offer them favorable conditions for their development (stagnation some water, temperature water between 25 and 45 °C, presence of nutrients).

Contamination occurs via respiratory And about inhalation of contaminated water diffused in aerosol.

Symptoms and diagnosis

Symptoms are generally similar to those of flu : fever, chills, cough, difficulty breathing and sometimes other signs such as nausea and confusion. They appear after 2 to 10 days after contamination by legionella, and in the majority cases in the 5 to 6 days.

For the patients which present the symptoms of the disease, there are several methods to confirm the diagnosis of legionellosis: among others, the search for the antigen of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 (caused in more than 90% of cases) in urines, search by blood tests (2 tests are necessary 3-4 weeks apart), and the search for strains from lung samples (« culture »).

Legionnaires' disease: a serious pathology?

The gravity of infection depends on several factors, notably the virulence of the strain contracted and vulnerability of the individual (smoking, age, immunocompromised people, transplant recipients, people with diabetes, kidney failure, coexistence of a chronic illness, etc.).

THE consequences health exposures to legionella can take the form of:
 d’infections non-pulmonary influenza type (Pontiac fever in particular) whose outcome is generally favorable;
 d’infections pulmonary serious, Legionnaires' disease.

Legionnaires' disease is a pneumopathy severe. There lethality, although weaker than in the past, reached 11%.

How to prevent Legionnaires' disease?

You can use our thermometers to protect you against Legionnaires' disease because temperature water is a crucial factor in preventing this disease. Legionella, the bacterium responsible for Legionnaires' disease, developed mainly in stagnant hot water conditions, between 35 and 45°C. THE legionella thermometers is essential for monitoring water temperature. Indeed, for avoid contaminated water, it must have a temperature of more than 50°C for hot water and less than 20°C for cold water. This helps maintain facilities safe, whether in hotels, of the health centers health, residential complexes or other environments where water quality is essential for public health.

Our thermometers for controlling Legionnaires' disease?

As part of the prevention against legionellosis, we have a collection of devices specially designed to control this disease. We offer you 3 infrared thermometers And 3 thermometer kits

Our infrared thermometers

Among the infrared thermometers, you have at your disposal the RayTemp 8, the Raytemp Blue and the RayTemp 28.

The RayTemp 8 distinguishes itself flexibility and its ability to make precise measurements in a wide temperature range, from -60 to 500°C in infrared mode. It is distinguished by its performance-price ratio. Son adjustable emissivity and the 12:1 optical ratio make it possible to identify risk areas where Legionella can develop. Little reminder, theemissivity, in thermography, is the ability of a material to emit infrared energy. It varies from one surface to another. A precise adjustment can therefore make all the difference in your measurements. Whether in the pipes where the cooling towers, the RayTemp 8 is a superb device for maintaining unfavorable conditions for the bacteria and ensuring the public health. Whether you are a professional or an individual, this device is particularly suitable for both environments.

RayTemp 8

The Raytemp Blue stands out for its main functionality, namely its bluetooth system you know range up to 50 meters. The main advantage is its ability to record temperatures. This eliminates the need for paper temperature readings and thus eliminates potential human errors. Additionally, with a temperature range between -49.9 to 349.9°C and an adjustable emissivity, this infrared thermometer allows precise and continuous monitoring of water points, crucial for preventing the growth of Legionella. He also has a accuracy of +/- 1°C and one 5:1 optical ratio. Optical ratio is the ability of a thermometer to measure the average of a diameter of 1 cm at a certain distance. In the case of the Blue thermometer, it can measure this diameter at a distance of 5cm maximum.

The RayTemp 28 is the professional thermometer par excellence. With her wide temperature range between -50 and 1370°C, it also allows measure temperature remotely with his 30:1 optical ratio. The emissivity customization you know accuracy of +/- 2°C in between 0 and 1350°C allow a precise detection of surface temperatures water in the air conditioning and heating systems, critical areas for proliferation of Legionella.

Infrared thermometers will allow you to measure places that are with difficulty accessible with a sin. This is why you will have to take into account their optical ratio in order to choose the infrared thermometer adapted to your needs.

Our thermometer kits

We have three thermometer kits. The choice of your kit will depend on your use, your frequency of use and your field of activity.

The first kit includes products for a legionellosis control. In fact, you will have at your disposal a Therma thermometer, a probe the contact, a wired probe and one disinfectant wipe to clean your devices and probes after use. THE Therma 1 thermometer, included in the kit, is designed for sustainability with a reinforced ABS plastic housing an antibacterial additive Biomaster which reduces the proliferation of bacteria. It is equipped with a clear LCD display 12 mm for easy reading. Her accuracy of +/-0.4°C is supported by a battery with a minimum lifespan of 5 years, ensuring a long-term reliability. It also offers readings ranging from -99.9 to 1372°C. The surface probe can be used to take the temperature of pipes and tanks, and the wired probe to measure water temperature.

OUR second kit for the control of Legionnaires' disease is more complete. It contains the Therma 1 industrial thermometer present in the first kit. In addition to two types of probes present in the first kit, you will also find a penetration probe which will allow you to take the water temperature as the probe wired. But what are their differences? The differences between these two probes will be at the level of their features. According to your utility also, you will not choose the same probe. There penetration probe is much more robust that wired probe. Additionally, this kit comes with a kitchen timer. This timer will allow you to calculate the time it will take for the hot water to travel, from hot water tank for production. You also have a box of 35 wipes for the hygiene of your probes and your thermometer and a sturdy carrying case, all two year warranty.

OUR latest legionellosis thermometer kit. It contains the same number of products as the previous kit but the products will not be the same. This sturdy kit includes a Therma waterproof thermometer. With a measuring range from -99.9 to 1372°C, the thermometer offers accuracy of ±0.4°C. Son 15mm LCD display East backlit for easy reading, even in dark areas. There battery life is a minimum of 5 years or 10,000 hours of use. Furthermore, the ABS plastic housing contains an antibacterial additive Biomaster for extra hygiene and sound protection index IP66/67 allows you to use it in the most humid places. There probe surface and the wired probe are the same as the previous kit, however the penetration probe is waterproof. The kit also includes a waterproof kitchen timer, a box of 100 cleaning wipes, and one sturdy ABS carrying case.
