Detailed Studio Software Setup Guide

Below is a handy step-by-step guide on how to download the Studio Software and connect your device to the software, as well as how to start the instrument setup.

First, install the software on your PC. You can do this by clicking on the link below. Once downloaded, open the software.

Next you will need to connect your device to the internet, you can do this in two ways:

  • Connect it directly to a PC or laptop via USB
  • You can also hotspot from your phone or tablet.

To connect via the Internet, simply plug your device into your PC using the supplied USB cable. Open the Studio Software and select the “ThermaData®” tab on the top bar, from there we can locate the “Connect Instrument to WiFi” button.

Once clicked, you can select the appropriate WiFi network from the drop-down menu and enter the necessary details. You will see a green bar load on the screen as it scans for available networks. If the network you are looking for does not appear, you can also manually enter the network name, select WPA2 as the encryption, and then enter the network password. Now that it has found the correct network, the device has connected and displays a WiFi signal indicator and a cloud in the upper left corner of the LCD screen.

Alternatively, we can also connect the device using a hotspot from a tablet or phone. First we need to hold down the “Start” and “Max/Min” buttons until the logger LCD displays “SEt UP”. From here we need to locate the Wi-Fi settings on the mobile phone/tablet and search for available networks. You will see an item that matches your device (it will have a number in the name that matches the serial number printed on the back label of your device. For example: D17061188). Now that we are connected to the device, we can use the browser of the mobile / tablet and either enter http://my.thermadatawifi or

*An important note at this point is that this page will only load properly if the logger still says 'Configure' and the mobile/tablet is connected to the thermometer 'hotspot' Wi-Fi.

Now that this page has loaded it has directed us to a configuration page, here are the steps to follow:

1. Select the appropriate WiFi network we want to connect to, for example Production.

2. Enter the network password.

3. Once all the information has been entered, click on “Save configuration”

4. The device is now connected to the WiFi network

As with the previous method, the device will then display a WiFi signal indicator and a cloud in the upper left corner of the LCD screen.

Next, we will pair the unit with the Studio software. To do this, we need to select the “My Instruments” tab, then type in the serial number of the unit from the back of our unit to the “Add Instrument” bar at the bottom of the window. Next to that you have the option to allow the user read-only or full access.

If you choose to select “Read only”, the user will have limited access to the device and can only view the information - not adjust it.This is especially handy when pairing a logger with multiple computers, you can choose to have one computer with full access and the others read-only access. 8-digit login on the back of the device.

If however you choose to select “Full Access”, the user will have unlimited access to the device and can adjust the settings. To do this, simply select “Full Access”. You can now see that you will be prompted to press the “Start” button on the instruments front panel 5 times in a row. This will give us a unique pairing code which must be entered in the text bar of the window.

Now that it's been successfully completed, the WIFI thermometer has appeared in the list under the name, followed by its unique serial number. At this point, provided you have chosen full access, we can now: rename the instrument, remove it from the software, and "unlink" all other users from this instrument.

Next, we need to enter the instrument settings. To do this, we simply need to locate the Instrument Settings tab on the top bar of your Studio software. Once clicked, choose the drop-down list and locate the chosen instrument.

From here we can modify the device settings such as; Sample rate, Transmission rate, Audit verification, Autostart, Enable or disable both sensor 1 and/or sensor 2, Name each sensor and program the allowed limits. These settings save you from having to manually run many of these instructions, which is a very time-saving aspect of the software, especially for your HACCP compliance. Below I've explained what each of these settings does and the benefits to them.

Sampling frequency:

This is how often the device takes a data sample from the item you are measuring and stores the temperature reading in its internal memory. You can set this at 6 second intervals, up to 5 hours and 30 minutes.

Baud rate:

Bitrate is the rate at which the device sends data stored in its internal memory back to the Studio software on your PC.

Audit verification:

This NEW feature allows you to perform an urgent "data dump" when you press the Start button. The device will immediately transmit all currently saved data from the device to the software. This is very handy if you have an audit check and the auditor asks to see today's data, you don't have to wait for the next scheduled transmission. The software will also clearly mark the transmission as an audit for you.


this function allows you to tell the instrument whether to start taking data samples as soon as you have finished configuring the parameters. If you want it to wait, you can just click the button and it will tell you to press the 'Start' button on the unit to begin data logging.

Allowable program limits:

This function allows you to set limits at or outside of which an alarm occurs. It will give you the option for a high and low alarm.

Tip: whenever new settings are programmed into a WiFi instrument, any previous settings or saved readings will be erased, so make sure you are already using the 'device to pass the current data you have to the software before changing the instrument settings
